duck and parrot puppets (and puppeteers!) |
in Old Whittington, you can never know, nor even guess, what wonders might wait for you on a a morning walk.
From Framlingham to Chepstow Castles, through enchanted gardens, across precarious bridges, through dark spooky caves, under dark spooky castles....
Climb the fence of rotting wood,
Run through the forest of creaking trees.
Fast, deep water runs in the rapid river.
There is gold shining in the sand of the river bed,
And only one bridge in all its length.
A bridge guarded by a Head Teacher armed with
Extra sums.
Cross the bridge.
Cross the bridge!
And in the topmost room,
Of the tallest tower,
Waits a treasure of hidden jewels,
Guarded by a dragon,
Wrapped right round the castle.
There is a wishing well nearby,
Green mossy rocks
Under green mossy trees.
Wishing Well
For good or ill,
One wish here
Is all your fill.
Think carefully
Before you wish
Or you may be left
With an empty dish
red dragon |
hero! |
octo-jellyfish |
shiny dragon! |
watchful fox |
the spooky girl who saved the day! |
With many thanks to all the Old Whittington storymakers, artists,
storytellers and puppeteers!
